Introduction

The Kentucky Board of Certification of Water Treatment and Distribution System Operators serves in an advisory capacity to the Division of Compliance Assistance on implementation of the operator training and certification programs. The board advises the division on all aspects of operator training and certification. Specifically, it reviews and recommends action on Class IV operator applicant qualifications, substitutions for education/experience, proposed administrative regulations, continuing education training to be utilized for renewal purposes, certification examinations, training and certification fees, state reciprocal agreements and the need for certified operator disciplinary actions.

The statutes regulating the drinking water board are located in
KRS 223.160 through KRS 223.220.

The regulations are located in 401 KAR 8:030.

The board consists of five members that are appointed by recommendation of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet secretary. They serve four-year terms. The current board members are:

Application for Approval of Courses for Continuing Education Credit

Course providers must submit a continuing education course to the appropriate certification board for approval before certified operators can receive continuing education credit for the course. To have the course reviewed by the board, submit a completed "Application for Approval of Courses for Continuing Education" form, which is located on the department's forms page, with the required supporting documentation to the Division of Compliance Assistance, Operator Certification Program at the address on the form.
